Kachokaran

While surfing channels last night, I stumbled upon ETC's America's Next Top Model (latest season).

One of the aspiring models bluntly said she was conservative and disliked gay people. She even asked for the consideration of Tyra and gay judges, and for them to be open-minded about her opinions.

What she said made me raise my eyebrows.

ASAL (ang sa akin lang), before you ask for someone else's open-mindedness, isn't it just proper to acquire this same trait first?

Keep on aspiring.

In my line of work, the power of persuasion and a vast experience on public relations are a few factors to make a sale.

And when I make a sale, my work still doesn't stop there. Syempre chichika ka pa. Feeling close I know, but based on experience, it's kind of effective to know your customers personally. They seem to be more at ease with you and they seem to trust you. And when they need something else, it's a no surprise that they'll surely look for you. Suki-suki kumbaga. I also have this theory that most people enjoy talking about themselves. Biglang nagbe-beam yung mga mukha nila at bigla silang sumasaya and who wouldn't want a cheerful customer diba?

Anyway, kanina, we made a sale. So there I went again, asking if they had a new house, etc. etc.

However, I don't see anything wrong with that naman. Of course, parents or us Pinoys always have the purest intentions.

Nakakatuwa lang isipin. Only in the Philippines I guess.

If not for my curiosity, I would not have learned that. I wouldnt have this blog entry also. Wala akong babalik-balikan. Nakakatuwa lang talaga. Not only because we made a sale, dahil na rin sa masaya silang lumabas ng tindahan namin at dahil na rin siguro may natutunan ako.

Ain't That Mazelan

Allo. PS said I am the most maselan person he has ever met when it comes to eating.

With this in mind, I came up with the following list of meals/fruits/desserts non-appealing to my taste buds.

First of course, TINOLANG MANOK. I am afraid of chickens and I never want them near me. Tinolang Manok looks raw to me. It’s like eating dressed and headless and raw chickens. It’s gross.

Second, STUFFED BANGUS. Why would someone fill the entire abdomen of the bangus with lotsa lotsa onions and tomatoes when all we have to deal with this fish, in the first place, is its numerous and hidden tiniks?

Third, this isn’t actually a meal but this just has to be in my list: Pakwan / Watermelon. No explanations needed. I have no idea why I hate watermelon.

Fourth, Kiamoy. Naman! Ang asim mo ‘neng.

Fifth, anything with gata especially ginataang alimango. Crabs, Aligue and all the crustaceans are my personal favorites but when you mix it with coco milk, never mind.

Sixth, Chico. They just smell like beer! (although I looove beer.)

Seventh, Nilagang Baka. Like Tinolang Manok, this meal just looks raw for me. I am not really a big fan of broths.

Eighth, buko salad.

Ninth, Sinaing na Isda. Boooo.. not a big fan. Sorry.

Tenth, crepes and brulee. Again, not a big fan. They make my stomach churn.

Eleventh, paksiw. No thanks. I tried to really love you because you’re my mom’s favorite, but I didn’t succeed.

Chidis

Although life at work has been very demanding, I manage to get by with my new CDs (thanks to sis Piningpine).

Piningpine got me a Daughtry album, finally! Sis said she was just passing by this record bar and saw the album. Sabi niya iisa na lang daw 'to kaya, grover, swerte!!!

Anyway, I have been listening to it and although it's kinda rock and loud and post-grunge, I am loving it super. Chris's vocals is amazing and the lyrics (which he co-wrote with the band I think) are also superb. My favorite is "Home". It's a sad song but who cares, I love sad songs!

I also got Imago's Blush. I never knew Aia wrote all the songs. Grabe, she's so talented... (uhhh! frustration kicking in hard!). Heniwei, the songs were uhh, so-s0. Parang monotonous and medyo inantok ako while listening to it. But still, props to Aia for her talent!

Team Unity Chaka

One of the many things I loathe about is celebrities running for mayor, congressman, senator, etc. etc.

I hate to be judgemental but aren't they just using their popularity to get the thumbs up of the people? I, at the same time, hate to be narrow-minded, but I just don't remember any projects they implemented for their constituents.

And now, even my all-time idol, Manny Pacquiao, will run for Congress this May. Come on naman Manny! Even without a position in Congress, you still can help a lot of people. Mas nakakatulong ka nga if you are just a caring citizen of our country. But anyway, I just hope you wont turn out to be the typical kongresistas we have. I have a MALAKING HAY NAKO! for you MP!

In this world, there is only one thing I truly believe in. And that is, go where your heart tells you go, where you can feel an overflowing happiness, where you can be yourself and not the somebody they want you to be...

But if MP's passion in life is to run for Congress and be the man with a lot of pork barrel, then so be it. Isang YES CLAP para sa yo men!

bonnieta

Hello again,

I have never told you about here the little girl I always see every afternoon. Let's call her "Bonnie".

I have been meaning to write about her but I guess her playfulness got the best of me and she just simply sneaks out of my mind.

I haven't seen Bonnie since Christmas. She was just gone for a while.

But this afternoon, while we were closing our shop, there she was again -- back to playing with the boys.

You see, Bonnie is very playful. She is a bit of a tomboy and runs around barefoot right across our shop. If I am not mistaken, she is at least nine years old. Bonnie knows every Pinoy game there is!

This afternoon, she was teaching her playmates how to REALLY play sikyo. I was looking at them for a while and they were just beautiful. After an entire day of work, work, work, it's nice to wrap up the day with kids who may be a little smelly and dirty but ironically, are just refreshing to look at. It makes you want to be a kid again and pretend that the world is a world of all the beautiful things you can hardly even imagine.

So back to Bonnie. I envy this girl. You see, I never played outside when I was a kid. I dont even know how to play sikyo! I was shy and I had a few friends. I just wanted to be inside our house and look at the kids who were playing outside. That's how I mainly spent childhood. I wasnt really a bibo kid unlike Bonnie here. She was so full of energy and she was a friend to everybody. If I am not mistaken, she was the boss of the group and the little boys, they are her reinforcements.

When I was younger, I never understood why my parents and even my favorite actors on TV call their kids as their little bundles of joy. But now, I think I understand them. I dont even know those kids and yet here I am, making a blog post exclusively about them and for them!

Bonnie and rest of the gang are just nice to look at. They make you forget that tomorrow is a war day again for you at work. They calm your nerves just by their mere shrieks and boisterous laughters. Bonnie and the gang are strangers to me but I dont care. Every afternoon, I look at them and it just feels good. They are so free and they just run around worrying about nothing.

Even if I am a child at heart and hardly worries about anything serious, there are still of course some instances in my life that I just wanted to be a real kid. A real kid like Bonnie.

MY KF.

My Koreanovela Fantasy originated even before our local TV networks bombarded their air time with Jo-Insungs. In fact, my Koreanovela Fantasy wasn't called as KF before. It was just, uhh, a 'thing' that I wanted to experience with the special people in my life. Only the Jo-Insungs strengthened this fantastic idea and made me think about it even more (and made me want it even more).

So here goes.

I have always dreamed of sneaking out at night for a coffee and doughnut (like the cast of Arirang's Non-Stop) or for a bottle of an ice cold beer at a local diner with any of the special people I have (like the cast of Only You). It would begin with a frantic yet excited-to-go-out phone call from any of the SPs, which after a while, would wake me up and make me don on a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt and just walk out of my house and meet my SP. Then, we'd just talk or sit still and savor the chilliness of the night (like the Korean love teams we watch on TV). Wow, even just writing about it makes me really excited.

I know, this is so achievable. But, if you live far from your friends and sneaking out at night is a mortal sin at home, this isn't really a great idea. :-) That's why this post you are reading is in fact a fantasy for me. :-) And although it's a fantasy, I promise to achieve it soon.

Again, I hope the cold weather we have in our country right now last for a while. And did you know that it's six degrees celsius in Benguet?? Wow, that's something.

Ka-Lameg!

Hello everybody, it's 21 degrees celsius outside.

For us here in the tropics, this is indeed a part of our everyday conversation. Everyone starts the conversation with, "Ang lamiggg!" or "Ang sarap matulog!" This includes me of course (I have always been in love with the cold weather). I just hope this will last a little longer, or at least until PS and I go out again. Hehe. Wala lang, it's seldom for us to walk outside because it's hot and it feels malagkit minsan. So there. I hope the cold weather will last a little longer para it would be nicer to walk outside and well, to achieve also my koreanovela fantasy (which I will expound on my next post). ;-)

Good night!

Enernainment!

My Wednesday and Thursday nights are once again reserved. American Idol is back! (Jajajanice's frustration to sing kicking in...)

Watch AI too! It's fun! Last night, they had Jewel as their special judge. She was so cool and she was so pretty. And her comments weren't like, "You're good", she made comments like, "there was a warmth in your presence that people will like". Ganyan, ganyan ang mga comments dapat. ;-)

And I didnt know Chris Daughtry had finally released his first album.... I can now smell the album cover of CHris from here, hehehe.

More on the boob tube extravaganza, Amazing Race Asia will soon end. THere are only four teams left now. I am rooting for couple Andrew and Syeon. I like A and S because they never fight. They always wait for each other and they're just so cool unlike Andy and Laura(who thank God, got eliminated last week). I really want them to win. I also like Joejer and Zab.

Lastly, I have been watching ABS-CBN's SANA MAULIT MULI-- nakakatuwa si Kim at si G. Anderson (sorry forget his first name...). Pambagets super pero keri lang, especially after a long day of work. SMM can actually put a smirk on my face. HAHAHA!

Pahabol, I don't like how Monique (Jackie's mom) acts in Maging Sino Ka Man. Bakit kaya siya ang kinuha. She doesn't move me at all.

End!

I cannot wait to read this one, I sure will reserve one copy again! And I cannot wait. I read some news about the final book, and they're freakin exciting!

But, I am gonna re-read first the Half-Blood Prince (Book 6). I cannot remember some details anymore. (And I have to prepare myself for Book 7).

Wow!

I Miss My Friends...

When I started working here in the island, I have been avoiding checking my personal email. Not that I was shutting off myself from the only communication I have with my friends, but it was more of avoiding to be envious about their recent escapades. I will surely die of envy when I'd hear that there's a get-away they're brewing up. Up to now, I still cannot accept that I am missing a lot of good times and bonding moments with the geng.

You see, I love my friends so much. They're a huge part of who I am right now. What I believe in life now is mainly because of their influences. And I never forget to thank the Lord for giving them to me. They're my happiness besides PS and the first family.

But today, I had to see their latest group picture. Not to rub in my longing for them, but just to see them- just to see their faces, with make-up and happy and eyes all twinkling. I just had to see my friends. I wanted to see if they were all happy. And of course, masasaya ang mga acheng. Nainggit ako when I saw their group picture. They were all beautiful and happy and I was supposed to be there. PS and I were supposed to be there but then, we weren't. But in a way, I am happy. I am happy that we are all friends and that we all love one another. I feel some emptiness inside of me and it's because I don't get to laugh with them like the way I used to...

But... When I see them soon, I will give them all a big hug and a big bottle of VODKA!

Ang Lamig Lately Ano? Love It!

I am enjoying the cool breeze we have in our country right now. Not that it only makes me stay a little longer in bed than usual, but it really spells h-a-p-p-y for me.

I love the fact that when I wake up in the morning, my pillows are cold and my feet feel cold. And then, when I get out of the house, the cool breeze of the wind will embrace me and then I feel happy again.

Hayyy.... small little things...

Small, petty, little, things that give a little something to my heart...

I feel happy super. :D

Holiday Pictures I Kinda Live By

Christmas 2006. The first family posing for the camera before the Christmas Eve Mass. We had a lot of things to be thankful for last year. 2006 was kind of a tough year for us but we made it through. So, JC, thanks.

Besides eating all my favorite food this Christmas, one of the few things I also look forward to during Christmas season is my tete-a-tete with my long lost friends. Check us out! (Bebeth, me and Tabs)

My high school best buds. (Not in picture is besty banana, pots, fedch, rems, beloy and a lot more!)

Our first ever high school reunion. Thanks to the efforts of our classmates, our reunion was super saya! It really felt good to see your classmates. Some changed but most of us were still the same. The funny thing was, when we were in high school, we weren’t close to one another, but during our reunion, it was like we came from only one group! Lahat nagtatawanan, nagkukumustahan. Galing!

Patawa Eh!

"Ano?"

He said, "Bitiw by Spongecola. 'Wag kang bibitiw bigla, wag kang bibitiw bigla-aa!'"

Heheheh.

BOKYA

It's fifteen days to go before Christmas.

Dito, sa isla, wala pa masyadong nagsasabit ng mga Christmas lights at Christmas lanterns as compared to the previous Christmasses a few years back. Whenever I drive to the market, I seldom see vendors selling lanterns and all that Christmas-y glitz.

Why is that? Dyan ba sa Manila, Paskong-pasko na? In addition to this, I rarely encounter namamaskos.

I have some theories why... like the weather disturbances.

Another theory is our lifestyle change. Nagiging parang mga Amerikano yata tayo, career-oriented and find a little time to run through the Christmas Wish List and feel, at the same time, the Christmas breeze.

Pero I still am positive, and believe that in the smallest vein that runs through a particular person's body, there is still that excitement to see the Christmas lights and open gifts on Christmas eve. Sana lang tama ang hinala ko.

Merry Christmas everyone!

... and enough with the typhoons please!
