Loving Colors

My brother, Ebu, is on vacation here in the island. I am kind of surprised to see a coloring book in his bag.

He said sometimes even he needs a time out.

Coloring illustrations is a therapy. It's like talking to a shrink. It's almost the same with body scrub and foot spa. The smell of crayola is not actually the same with the scent the burnt incense brings but if you smell it more, you will get to know the resemblance.

It is a form of relaxation, which i am quite sure, is what everybody desires to have every once in a while.

The careful handling of the crayon, the perfect illustration to color, the well-thougt of colors for each shape, the dabbing of cotton in every part finished. Imagination at work.

They are all wonderful, they are all in a quest for perfection and beauty. They take us away from our usual lives. They bring us back to years of childhood and friendships. They give us freedom to think of things we dream about or freedom just to think of simple and little things.

It's fun, it's cute and it's fulfilling. By the time you finished coloring, you would look at it from afar, amazed at how artistic and not-so-artistic you were. You would then turn the page, turn it once more and look for the perfect illustration to color. The feeling of accomplishment running around inside your head. Crayons all scattered on your table while some on the floor...

It took me a while to finish shading the drawing below. I didn't want to finish early, I just wanted to see how it was forming. It was a great feeling, seeing it turning into something, with life, and literally with colors. It was nice. Go get your own coloring book and try something new for a change (instead of watching a movie or playing badmint). This one's fun too.
