Patawa Eh!

"Ano?"

He said, "Bitiw by Spongecola. 'Wag kang bibitiw bigla, wag kang bibitiw bigla-aa!'"

Heheheh.

BOKYA

It's fifteen days to go before Christmas.

Dito, sa isla, wala pa masyadong nagsasabit ng mga Christmas lights at Christmas lanterns as compared to the previous Christmasses a few years back. Whenever I drive to the market, I seldom see vendors selling lanterns and all that Christmas-y glitz.

Why is that? Dyan ba sa Manila, Paskong-pasko na? In addition to this, I rarely encounter namamaskos.

I have some theories why... like the weather disturbances.

Another theory is our lifestyle change. Nagiging parang mga Amerikano yata tayo, career-oriented and find a little time to run through the Christmas Wish List and feel, at the same time, the Christmas breeze.

Pero I still am positive, and believe that in the smallest vein that runs through a particular person's body, there is still that excitement to see the Christmas lights and open gifts on Christmas eve. Sana lang tama ang hinala ko.

Merry Christmas everyone!

... and enough with the typhoons please!

MYXILOG

In the first place, bakit ba siya andon? Hay nako. Nakakaturn-off. Riding the popularity of someone else's.

Sana lang, wag kumandidato si Manny. Ang galing galing niyang boxer. Halos lahat ng tao, saludo sa kanya. Mix this kind of admiration with something dark and dirty like
politics, men oh men, isang malaking good luck. To the future politicians and all those trapos in the land, men, gumawa kayo ng nakakatuwa para ipag-motorcade din kayo ng mga pinoy.

###

And of course, I am betting on Chad Peralta.

Gustung-gusto ko talaga 'yung mga artists na oozing with a lot of character, and parang pag kakanta puro angst. But when you continue to listen to him, you will feel the truthfulness in his voice. Hay. Chad's my bet. And he's super sipag too.

###

Merry Christmas everyone! Can you feel it na? Me, not yet. Pero, getting there. :D

TATAH!

Kaya ayun, napadpad kami sa mamihan at siopao-an kanina.

Anyway, we talked about a lot of stuff while we were feasting on asado and mami.

Ayos diba!

Ako, I wanted to really study in UP. Siguro, kung pumasa ako doon, isa nako akong interior designer ngayon. Iyon kasi ang inaaplyan kong course sa UP. Pero bumagsak ako eh. At napadpad sa Miriam College.

I told PS, na when I took the entrance exam in MC, i was so shy and scared. Hah! Pero when I started studying there naman, nice girls naman pala sila. :D

It's refreshing, it makes you smile and you feel so, wala lang, parang buhay na buhay. Parang kulang kapag ganon. Parang magtataka ka. "Ano ba nangyari sa akin ten years ago?"

At kapag wala kang maisip, you will surely let out a big sigh, stare blankly into the wall or cover yourself with blanket and sleep all day.

At siempre, I will continue to collect beautiful memories, para sa future, meron pa ako ibang babalik-balikan.

Ikaw din dapat. Dapat madami kang baong happy memories. Ok yun.

Yes clap begins here.

The Songs I Used To Hear

Admit it. We have a mental list of our all-time favorite songs. These songs, in one way or another, played/play a great deal of role in our lives. In my case, my all-time favorite songs are associated with specific circumstances that I happen to encounter in my life.

Today, I am going to at least give you a clear view of what I am writing about.

1. "Esem" ; "Tsinelas" ; "Coño ka Pre" by YANO --

I just heard these songs again through Ebu's ipod and well, I couldn't help it, memories came and bombarded my brain.

I got to listen to these songs when Poang P bought a Yano cassette tape zillion years ago. She was only sixteen then and a freshie in UP. And I, on the other hand, was in my teenybopper year (I was thirteen then). Poang P came home with this album and we listened to it over and over and over and over. Praise Yano!

2. "Dreams" by THE CRANBERRIES --

The best band ever! And when Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks used this song in their movie, "You've Got Mail", it even made Cranberries the BESTEST BAND for me! Pagsama-samahin ba naman ang mga paborito ko! Aba, combo yun ah! :D

3. "Girl" by IMMACULATE --

Can you still remember this local band???? Or, can you still remember this song? It goes like this, "GIRL EVEN THOUGH YOU LOVE SOMEBODY, IM STILL HERRREE TO LOVE YOU..."

My high school classmate and friend, Toby, used to sing this song in one of our high school fairs. He sang it really well and until now, I still remember how he sang this one. For Winnie siguro.

4. "I Wanna Believe" by PATTI AUSTIN (ata)

Whenever I hear this one, it's Mina who first registers in my mind. Hayy, I have so many singer friends. :) I always ask her to sing this song.. and she's so great. :D

5. "Breakfast at Tiffany's" by DEEP BLUE SOMETHING

This one's Hospi's song. Period. :D

6. "Soon" by MOONPOOLS & CATERPILLARS --

I love this song. Ang cute mashado. High school ako noong nakilala ko ang bandang ito and it was through Banana, the chinagirl. After that, I started telling everybody about that little trivia.

7. "Swing Swing" by ALL AMERICAN REJECTS --

My URL is swingjanice.blogspot.com.

I got inspired with this song and decided to name my website, "swingjanice".

I picked this song, because the message was so freaking fantabulous. It's so positive and I love positive songs. Swing swing!

Esten

The saddest news I can ever receive is the death of a friend or a loved one.

Two days ago, Che, my high school friend, sent me a text message that one of our friends passed away. Her message said, "Kristine Joy is already gone, please pray for her..."

And of course, I had to confirm it, I called her and the news was true. Esten happened to inhale some chemicals in the company she was working for.

I started telling all our high school friends about it. I just realized, before, I usually send text messages to our friends telling them about an upcoming get together.. But now, I send them a text message very different from that. It was about the death of our perkiest friend. :-(

In addition to that, our high school friends usually visit the island for vacation bu now, they go back to the island to see our dear friend for the last time....

We saw Esten for the last time this afternoon... It was one of the saddest sights I saw. "Nalagasan na kami ng isang kabarkada". And it made me really cry so hard.

My friends and I were so devastated. But well, sabi nga nung pari, we dont own our lives, hiram lang yan kay JC...

So to Esten, wherever she is right now, I hope she is at peace now... We will miss her terribly...

Alam Ko Na!

If I were a patron saint, I would definitely be the Patron Saint of the Frustrated Dancers (specifically solid gold and hot legs dancers).

Well, not to brag but, I can do some moves naman, but they're just aren't graceful enough and once again, I look like a pole. There are so many skinny, tall women who can pull off a great dance production number, but me, I will just stick with the "I-can-do-some-moves" statement. Bokya kung papaigsiin natin.

I love to dance. I love it so much that sometimes (or oftentimes) I get so ecstatic and throw my long arms and long legs everywhere! But I love doing that! I am a dancer in the first place (according to my personal checklist).

So I have been thinking. My previous post was so strong (for me) I had to really think of what "saint powers" I would want to have should opportunity arises. And while listening to my trance CD... alam ko na!

I want to be the Patron Saint of the Frustrated Dancers. I want to give hope and at least a feeling of greatness to those, including me, who drool over the perfect splits and hip-breaking moves of Hot Legs and Solid Gold Dancers.

We envy them I know, and we even cannot be like them, but allow me to reiterate, that as the Patron Saint of the Frustrated Dancers, we have moves they don't have. They may master our moves but they cannot do those moves the way we do them. How about that.

So there, finally, nakaisip nako kung anong santa ako. Ang sarap ng feeling. lala!

Quarter Life Crisis

One of the things I miss the most...

I want to kick some balls with the gang. I want to sweat my stresses off, score a goal, run wild in the field, and arms up in the air. This is all I want to do right now.

I want to kick the ball hard and stay out late playing football. And I miss wearing my soccer shoes. They're comfortable and I love them.

I just miss playing. Ang sarap ng feeling na yon because the next day, you'd feel really refreshed, your pores clean and your skin glowing and your body toned. Wow.

(There's a problem uploading images. Sayang.)

This is the Janice Way of Handling Things

October is now here. And I've got jitters.

Nine days from now, I will be turning twenty-five. Geez.

Last year, I wrote about how I see twenty-five-year old women. They're independent, decisive and confident. However, I am pretty far from this idea. A part of me cares, but a larger part of me thinks about redefining it. After all, it is who you are that really matters.

I am not an independent person nor decisive. I am impulsive, immature and can you believe this, at twenty-five, i still do baby talks?! There are just some habits you can't change, and no matter how hard I try to at least change them, I just go back to my old me. But then again, I love my old me and I am happy with my old me!

And of course, I am happy when I am being myself. I guess there can't ever be a happier moment than being who you are.

Pero, when I think about this real hard, there were times in my life that I felt indepedent and mature. It just happened because there were situations before that asked for it. So there, I did try to be indie and immie and maybe, in some future situations, I will once again get my "immie and indie cape" and handle them.

But in everyday life, well, well, well... :)

Advance Happy 25th Birthday to me!

Ah Ewan!

As much as I would like to think of happy thoughts, masyadong malakas ang powers ng bad vibes ko ngayong araw na'to. Happy thoughts won't just work this time.

And the saddest part of all, I don't even have a solid reason why I am so annoyed today.

I cannot just breathe in and out you know.

Urgghh!

Come on, come on

PS and I attended a franchise seminar this morning. It was an event organized by our local government and it was one of the few events as well that I "wholeheartedly" participated in.

Sayang, walang raffle. Hehehe.

The seminar was of course a success. Mostly owners of the businesses were the ones who did the presentations, and that's why they were so great. This is basically the same with the "love your own" attitude we have...

As I was saying, I did learn a lot from the seminar and right now, I am thinking of really taking the plunge, getting my own pair of wings and just do it!

Because of this, you will see below the businesses that I am very much interested in. I wouldnt want of course to venture into something that I am not very into. But if that business would be so darn profitable, then why not? :D

Here goes my wish biz list:

1. Furniture and interior design shop (ala Our Home and Regalong Pambahay, I love interior design after all-- although the pers pamili is currently into it, I still would love to have my own shop)

2. National Bookstore franchise

3. Events company

4. Hang out place for the bagets :D

5. Gadgets shop

6. Rose and Grace Franchise (do they franchise?)

7. Gusto ko rin yung mga crafts shop... (kaso ano naman tutubuin ko don?)

8. Salon and spa..

Hayyy... ST lang 'to. :D

On Nihonggo

It has been my long time dream of becoming a true blue Haponesa. Wala lang. I just want to be one. If I would be given a chance to choose my own nationality, I would definitely be a Haponesa, not a geisha, but just a simple Ani of Shaider will do or a pop singer like Utada. However, I do not seem to like the animes Japan has. I just love the women, hmmm, that sentence didn't come out right.

Skip to, when Japanese fast food, Tokyo Tokyo, launched its So Japanice campaign, I was thrilled! It was so near my real name, it was so meant for me. Kahit dito man lang, kumonek ako nang bahagya! So Japanice!

Because of this, I have made up my mind. I will find ways to study their language. Unfortunately, there is no school here in the island that offers foreign language. I might just have to rely on the net or seek the help of my first cousin, Juli, who is half haponesa. Too bad, she lives in Cebu now.

To those who are fluent in Nihonggo, can we do an online tutorial?

And I wanna go to Japan too!

Kio Tsukete Kudasai!

T.O.L.

Maldita ako, masungit at spoiled brat.

At ayaw kong malaman yon kase nalulungkot ako.

Magni didn't make it as the lead singer of Rockstar Supernova. Too bad. Even PS' top choice, Toby Rand, didn't bag the job either.

And who would have thought Lukas Rossi would be the boy of Supernova? I thought it was Dilana, she was so awesome. In all her performances, she was always the second best for me (Magni of course was my first).

Anyway, lahat naman sila magagaling. As in. Mas magagaling talaga sila kesa sa last year's season.

Hayy, i cannot wait for the next season. And I cannot wait for the Rocktar compilation album!

Love, love it!

DEAL NA AGAD!

Whenever I hear the Deal or No Deal theme on my lolo's TV next door, I suddenly feel a little something inside my stomach.

I totally hate it when Kris shouts her famous "Is it a deal or no deal?" line. Studio contestant will suddenly have this facial reaction, which is very much similar with the former contestants. She'd clasp both her hands, look at her reinforcements, or mouth slightly open trying to decipher what they are trying to say. And then she'd say, "NO DEAL!!!"

PATAY NA!

Expect now the worst guesses. Suddenly, all big amounts will begin emerging. Contestants are now secretly blaming their friends and loved ones, and one may be thinking about repeating the entire game!

Hayyy... It's the same old course every single night.

It's a game of chance after all. And it's a game of choice as well. Should contestant choose to say deal even if P2M is still there, she's a winner already. But if she continues to fight, GAHAMAN! Ayan, wala siya tuloy naiuwing pera!

I watched one episode where the contestant didnt take home any money. That was a sad sight for the highest-rating show. Nakakapanglupaypay.

Kelan ka ba papalitan?

LABADAMI-LABANGO!

News Flash!

PS recently opened the first laundry station in the island! Yebah!

It's a very big risk since most houses here have their own washing machines and laundrywomen to take care of their dirty laundry but PS took it anyway. But, with right marketing strategies to boot, Washmore Laundry Station is slowly becoming a household name here!

WLS's machines have been busy running since day one! And this afternoon, a first-time customer brought all his 23-kilo laundry! Yey!

WLS is also targetting the hotels, hospitals and restaurants, however, all WLS has been getting are inquiries. Well, we are very much hoping their inquiries will be Job orders someday. :-)

Thanks to JC, we still pray our customers will always let WLS handle their laundry. But with that kind of price WLS has, I am positive WLS will sail through this last quarter of the year!

Wish us luck!

WASHMORE LAUNDRY STATION! YOUR LABADA PARTNER!

Ber is my beginning

September One. Wow. There will be Christmas carols as early as tomorrow once again on our radios-- an old tradition our local djs do, to wake us up and tell us, Christmas is just about to make its warm presence felt, again.

And i love it. I love it when I hear Christmas songs and Jose Mari Chan on the radio. It just gives me this relaxing sensation which, for your information, is sometimes scarce due to severe problems that are sometimes entwined with work. Anyway, I am very looking forward to Christmas this year because my family wasnt really able to wrap ourselves to the happy Christmas spirit last year. So there, I am quite excited about Christmas 2006. I have wishes inside my chicken little brain already but I dont want to divulge them yet. For now, I am secretly counting the days and praying for happy and good things to arrive, now that it's the start of ber months once again.

Another great thing about "ber" is... well, after September is October, and uh, October happens to be my favorite month, because uh, October, once again, happens to be my birth month. Yeah, I am a Libran who only has a few sense of parity in her body. By the way, I will be 25 this year. Pucha, I am in my mid-20s na but I don't feel like one. Anyway, ano ba naman ang pakiramdam ng isang 25 year old? Too subjective. Wag na lang. Ill rephrase my mid-20s sentence: "Pucha, I am in my mid-20s na! Exciting!" There! Period! :D

Anyhoo, it's just nice to look forward to something. I dunno yet if my secret wishes will be granted or if my birthday will be a blast this year, but just the thought of them, they add up to my happy cells already and what can be a greater feeling than that?

Every once in a while, I think it will be really nice if we shift our perspectives to simpler things; things that are uncertain but things that bring great joys to our hearts.

Happy thoughts. Don't make them scarce, and dont let them die at the back of your head, bring them in, and think of how this Christmas will be so much beautiful than last year's.

Beautiful Window

I looked at you,
I had to take your picture.

In a dark old limestone church,
You brought light and life
with your funky colors.

You were a blend
Of medieval and modern ages.

You were the prettiest
You deserved to be up there,
where no punks could reach you.

Just don't fade please.

I Love Basking in the Sun

You may change the color of my skin.
You may give me those irritating burns at my back
Or even at my face
And at the tip of my nose...
But I don't really care,
I love you Sun for shining down on me,
I love you when you burn my skin,
I love you when you travel through my body
And sting me with your warmth.
It tickles and it prickles.
But I don't really care.
I just love basking in you.

Im Ecstatic!

Someone’s been busy hanging around with my player.

Corrine Bailey Rae!!! (artist behind famous song, “Put your Records on”)

If you love soul music, soft melody, passionate words and lines, CBR is just your way to go. Her songs are relaxing just like the way she sings them – with ease. This one never goes out of style; she’s ageless and her music is so calm you just want to listen to them over and over (me, I sing along… ).

My favorite cuts are "Like a Star", "Put Your Records On", "Trouble Sleeping".

I so love her and I love her more because she writes her own songs. I am just not sure which genre her music belongs to, but I don’t care because her kind doesn’t need one. She’s a genre on her own already.

Love her! (and the album art, wow, like it’s so meant for me, haha!)

Supernova! Ye!

Wednesdays and Thursdays are the best weekdays of my life ever since my ROCKSTAR SUPERNOVA started airing on Star World! Are you guys watching it?

I still think Magni will be the one but PS thinks it'll be Toby (Hello Mate!). Anyway, I really love the show. It's so amazing. I really enjoy watching it and seeing my Magni sing and look at the camera and look at me and... oh wow, nakakatunaw! (Ilusyonada! Ilusyonada!). Anyway, he sings really great. He's a pro!

I love Brooke Burke and I adore Dilana (the one with so many tattoos and pink hair). She looks amiable and she sings really well ( I enjoyed her Zombie version, I love Cranberries!). I want her to win too. And Storm pa pala and Zayra! She may seem weird but I dont care. PS and I love watching her perform. She's so entertaining and PS thinks her body is so amazing especially when she wore that blue spandex and sang Call Me. Great.

I dont like Jill especially when she did the grinding thing with Gilby. I dont quite enjoy seeing Josh perform too. He said he loved soul more than hard core rock. Eh mag quit ka na. He is like a pa-boy next door type eh. He's too mellow and... boring. He can join Patrice...

Fin!

Maishare ko lang...

Some people say I am quite a pro when it comes to letting go. I dont want to brag but my famous shrugging-it-off attitude (read: the b*tch attitude) has, I guess, inspired, some of my friends (in terms of relationships).

But you know what, there is one thing I really cannot let go of.

My cellphone number!!!

PS has been persistent in convincing me to change my number para same network daw kami but I just cannot let go of it. While some asked me to get a plan instead because Id save more money daw (since almost weekly ako magload ng 115).

Well... mas maganda 'tong prepaid ako... And my self-control isnt really that reliable. So there.

Maishare ko lang. And to my friends who are reading this, same pa rin ang number ko kaya wag nyo na ako iedit sa phone nyo. :-D

Tatah!

ikaw ay mahalaga sa akin
di ko man maisip
sa pagtulog ikaw ang panaginip

malabo man ang aking pag-iisip
sana'y pakinggan mo
ang sigaw nitong damdamin

chorus:
ako'y alipin mo kahit hindi batid
aaminin ko minsan ako'y manhid
sana ay iyong naririnig
sa 'yong yakap ako'y nasasabik

ayoko sa iba
sa yo ako ay hindi magsasawa
ano man ang yong sabihin
umasa ka ito ay diringgin

madalas man na parang
aso at pusa giliw
sa piling mo ako ay masaya

ako'y alipin mo kahit hindi batid
aaminin ko minsan ako'y manhid
sana ay iyong naririnig
sa 'yong yakap ako'y nasasabik

pilit mang abutin ang mga tala
basta sa akin wag kang mawawala...

ako'y alipin mo kahit hindi batid
aaminin ko minsan ako'y manhid
sana ay iyong naririnig
sa 'yong yakap ako'y nasasabik

pagkat ikaw lang ang nais makatabi
malamig man o mainit ang gabi
nais ko sanang iparating
na ikaw lamang ang aking iibigin

Jajajanice: I like this song. The band's singing from the heart and I love bands who sing from their hearts. SKL.

Ha? Su Doku?

Have you tried answering the Su Doku Puzzle?

It's a number puzzle wherein in every row, every column, and every box, you can't repeat any number from 1 to 9.

It's sooo mind-boggling!!!!!! I tried answering one in the daily paper and I thought I would be able to finish it but I was wrong! I was answering the puzzle the whole day and all I had was an unfinished puzzle and a glum spirit.

Hehehe, exaggerated ba?

Sh*t. I brought the puzzle home. Even if I would repeat everything just to get the puzzle right, sige na nga ok lang. Akala mo titigalan kita, no way, hi-way.

Bring it on sister!

(Maganda tong minsan naeexercise ang utak ko... Lovely.)

Mukha Mo

Usually, at the end of every quarter, your report card will be given to you or sometimes to your folks during PTA Meetings. When I was in high school, it was given to the students. My grades weren't that bad naman so I didn't have the problems of showing my report card to Oma and Apa and having them sign it.

Now the gist. There was one instance when my parents forgot to sign my report card. I realized that when I was on my way to school already with my elder sister, Piningpine. It was like a big deal in our school if your card wasnt signed. I told my sister about it and she, without any hesitation and practice, took my report card and forged the signature of our mom. It was so the same, the strokes, that it did not make me feel nervous of getting caught at all.

I told this story to Poang P and Oma a couple of days ago and as usual, Poang P was hysterical. Her exact words, "Ako, hindi ko kayang gawin yan, dahil galing Holy ako noh! Eh kayo.."

Buwahaha, mukha mo.

Yun lang, maikwento ko lang!

BananaBonita!

For Hera Banana.

Kapag namimiss mo kami, mamimiss mo talaga kami at wala kang magagawa don. Deal with it na lang, ika nga. :D Malamang lagi mo kami mamimiss.

Mamimiss ka namin at tulad mo, wala din kami magagawa don, we will just deal with it also and wait for you next year. :D

Good luck, Hers.

Mixed Nuts

My blog is so boring.

And my internet connection at home is not working. What does it mean when the error message says, "The remote computer does not respond"? SOS.

I have twenty more minutes in this cafe so I decided Im gonna blog muna, :-)

Kumusta na kayong lahat? I recently heard from my best friend that she'd be leaving the country and work at some toys' manufacturer in China i think or HK as an Account Executive! (applause....)

Libre bahay and libre meals! Good for you banans! Though the whole kada will surely miss you but oh well... :-)

I just really wish that you'd be safe there, and that you'd be alert and aware still. If i were you, I'd definitely give my mamahalin watch to my best friend. Aba, baka mawala pa yan. Mabuti na 'yung nasa safe hands yan diba. :D

Anyway, you're still going to go here in the island to visit your stranded friends here so we are going to wait for you here na lang. (How many "here" have I written down here??)

----

I also found out from Mina and Neneyta that the whole block will be flying to Boracs this December for some memorable bonding session....

Guys, Im really sorry, I have to say no again..... But ill definitely see you all before you leave.

----

Are you guys watching ROCKSTAR SUPERNOVA? Mina, are you reading this? Napanood mo ba ang premiere ep? It was better than the first season. Although I cant deny that im drooling over JD Fortune, but I just feel that this season will be a better season. I like Magni (I like bald men, Chris Daughtry!) and Ryan. :-)

Rockstar Supernova airs every Wednesday and Thursday on Star World.

While on the boob tube topic, I am also hooked on Tyra Banks' Next Top Model on etc. I am rooting for Kahlen. She doesnt comb her hair like Meg Ryan (maisingit ko lang ung idol ko). I dont like Brit. She's just tall pero parang hindi talaga pang model ang dating nya. Parang kulang sa emoshon.. Ayan...

Next TOp Model airs every monday night after queer eye on Etc. There's a new season coming up on Channel V. Too bad, we dont have Channel V.

-----

THank you to Mina for buying me AI CD! I love it to death!

----

Belated Happy Birthday to my two loves -- Openg and Lovilly! I love you!

Pagod Ako Pero Masaya.

Everyone in the First Family had a looonng and very hectic day.

We will be opening up our newest branch tomorrow and we are all exhausted preparing everything.

And tonight, though tired, my two evil stepsisters still had a "danz" showdown while I was choosing songs for tomorrow's grand opening (and I was so great to capture them all on cam).

A little tinge of humor to end the day. Great.

Got a New Hobby

PS got a new hobby, target shooting. He joined this shooting competition (Nationals daw according to him - world class shooters daw, naks!) in San Pablo, where he met the Action God, Eddie Garcia (whose picture appears below). He got the 44th place (out of 75, not bad pareh!).

PS in action. (O di ba, ibang klase theme ng blog entries ko for the day, puro sports, nice).

Sabe nya, why dont I try it daw? Uhhh... we'll see. :-)

Where art thou?

You are all worth the bruises, the dirt, and the sweat. I miss you so.

Loving Colors

My brother, Ebu, is on vacation here in the island. I am kind of surprised to see a coloring book in his bag.

He said sometimes even he needs a time out.

Coloring illustrations is a therapy. It's like talking to a shrink. It's almost the same with body scrub and foot spa. The smell of crayola is not actually the same with the scent the burnt incense brings but if you smell it more, you will get to know the resemblance.

It is a form of relaxation, which i am quite sure, is what everybody desires to have every once in a while.

The careful handling of the crayon, the perfect illustration to color, the well-thougt of colors for each shape, the dabbing of cotton in every part finished. Imagination at work.

They are all wonderful, they are all in a quest for perfection and beauty. They take us away from our usual lives. They bring us back to years of childhood and friendships. They give us freedom to think of things we dream about or freedom just to think of simple and little things.

It's fun, it's cute and it's fulfilling. By the time you finished coloring, you would look at it from afar, amazed at how artistic and not-so-artistic you were. You would then turn the page, turn it once more and look for the perfect illustration to color. The feeling of accomplishment running around inside your head. Crayons all scattered on your table while some on the floor...

It took me a while to finish shading the drawing below. I didn't want to finish early, I just wanted to see how it was forming. It was a great feeling, seeing it turning into something, with life, and literally with colors. It was nice. Go get your own coloring book and try something new for a change (instead of watching a movie or playing badmint). This one's fun too.

Get the Picture?

The PS Birthday Parteh That Was

As promised, here goes mah kwento about the PS Birthday Party That Was. As you my beautiful readers all know now, my hanibeyb just turned twenty something last May 23rd. He's a Gemini and I am a Libran. Great combination according to compatibility tests. Lovely.

Anyway, PS and I prepared something for his friends at his shop (ala children's party dahil 4PM ang call time, hehe).

So what's in his Birthday Trolley? Well, my sister Poang-P was kind enough to cook PS's favorite food... spaghetti (and of course, I love to brag about how great my ate's spaghetti is). We also had pizza and ice cream (told you it was for kids).

So there, made some chika chika with his friends and his friends' wives. It was fun and seeing PS happy was really fun. He was telling me the day before that his birthday would just be an ordinary day at work. Well you are so wrong, kiddo. We had a blast really. He was so happy and that's what thrilled me.

To complete the PS Birthday Party That Was, shempre may "kodakan"!

Friends of PS, busog.

Shempre, The Birthday Boy. I gave that shirt (which Banana bought, thanks banana!)

Ehem.

Hayyy, this is life. Love it.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Sunday I Like

Mental Aerobics. Newspaper said that every once in a while, brains must be exercised. How? Read a book, answer a crossword puzzle, an IQ question, etc. etc.

So... I got into reading James Frey's A Million Little Pieces. It's quite a read actually. Frey was the one speaking in the book, sort of his autobio, which I really liked (because i was like invading someone's mind, and you know how much that thrills me). And it was all about how he managed to redeem himself from addiction. Frey gave me a clear picture of what human spirit and dignity were, of what patience was. It was nice. He also said a lot of inspiring and kind of thought-provoking opinions in the book...

Number One. (Talking about God and religion with his shrink). "I thing God is something that people use to avoid reality. I think faith allows people to reject what is right in front of our eyes, which is that this thing, this life, this existence, this consciousness, or whatever word you want to use for it, is all we have, and all we'll ever have. I think People have faith because they want and need to believe in something, whatever that something is, because life can be hard and depressing and brutal if you don't.

Number Two. (He got hooked on the teachings of Tao). "Control by letting go of control, fix your problems by forgetting they're problems. Deal with them and the World and yourself with patience and simplicity and compassion. Let things be, let yourself be, let everything be and acccept it as it is. Nothing more, nothing less, nothing more.

Etc. etc.

(and now, I am reading the life of Mary Magdalen. ;-))

SUNDAY I LIKE! (Shots from the beach with my PS, and our dogs!)

PS with Jack, Jet (my dog!) and Brad.

Sila Ulit...

Brad

Si Jet, 5-month-old GSD, gurlaloo

Hehehe.

Hullo, hullo!

Check out mah picture mah men! Gaan ng feeling! :-D

Gaya-Gaya

This post is inspired by LennieGurl's "A Lot Like Love" montage. ;-) Only mine looks a bit of a Rubic's Cube. :D

I am also a fanatic of black and white-- it seems as if emotions reach a certain high when I get to see pictures in black and white.

The Best Hours

I say the best things happen after work.

7PM.

I have dinner with the pers pamili. Or, if PS and I want to eat somewhere else, I go to his shop and wait for him and have dinner at our friend's resto or at BH or at WD.

8PM.

However, if PS and I dont have plans for the night, after dinner with the pers pamili, I wash up, watch tv and curl up in bed. Or, if PS is at home, we go play with my very cute na cute Jet (whose picture isnt uploaded yet) or watch a movie.

If it's a Wednesday or a Thursday, I will be glued on American Idol. :-) Love Chris and Taylor!

9PM.

Still glued on TV. If it's a Wednesday and Im at home, I will definitely be watching Grey's Anatomy on Star World (right after american idol).

If Im not at home, at this hour, I am munching on Chibu, pasta, tokwat baboy and lot lot more!

10PM.

Tuesday. CSI NY time!
Snack Time!
and sometimes bed time....

So basically, after work, I enjoy life more. Hehe. Mornings and afternoons are spent working, entertaining customers, taking care of the store, etc. etc. Sometimes mornings and afternoons are spent with some mild confrontations from the warlord and the war princess. So, life is really a lot enjoyable after work. :-)

Ganon naman talaga diba? :-)

Ms. Brightside

This blog entry is inspired by a former colleague and a forever friend, Kendis. I saw her friendster and immediately, I saw me and Kendis, talking inside the ladies' room after lunch, palpitating and letting out heavy sighs. But now, she's the real bomb. While I'm the dynamite. :-D

TIME FLIES! Pucha! I read one specific testimonial in my friendster. It said something about "Palpitating Sessions". Aaminin ko, isa akong kondesa ng palpitation a few years back (at minsan, kahit ngayon, nararamdaman ko pa rin sya).

Wala na yata ako inatupag noon kundi magpalpitate, makipaghingahan ng bitterness at magsabi ng "shrug it off, shrug it off". There was also this instance when I opened my email and read the "unreadable". I literally walked out of the office, grabbed some pesto in Sucre, pressed the B2 button in the elevator, and once again, let out a heavy sigh in my car.

Ako, I can feel that in other people's entry. At nag-eenjoy talaga ako. It seems as if, I am prying into their life and it also seems as if they're feeding with information na ala hot-off-the-grill ang concept!

Back on the subject, I opened my friendster account and read my testimonials. Abnoy nga pala ako. Frustrated singer nga pala ako. Masarap nga pala daw ako kausap. Bitter nga pala ako noon.

Grabe-ti.

Minsan, I tend to forget who I really am. Minsan, nawawala ako sa circulation and it saddens me but at the same time, natutuwa ako, kasi nakikita ko 'yung mga friends ko na nagmo-move on, nag-iimprove sa crafts nila. Wow. Nakakatuwa din na yung mga special sa yo, they say nice things about you, nice and totoo. Sarap. Nawawala kase ako sa sarili minsan, since day one, hindi ako firm. Bigla tuloy ako napaisip, naging boring ata ako lately. Ay ang laki ng problema ko.

To attain consistency in this entry, allow me to go back to this entry's plot. My palpitating sessions a few years back. Wheew, I thought I wouldn't be able to get rid of them. Parang nakakaloka talaga. Good thing, God is really good to me and helped me open my eyes and see the "potential sources of happy thoughts". After some time, the "Potential sources of happy thoughts" became true sources of happy thoughts. Yey to JC!

BRIGHTSIDE. :-)

... with the help of my PS of course. ;-)

Here by the way are my latest photos with the bitches of madison county... Salamat Jan and Tel, I had a blast, ulitin natin ito. This time sama nyo na ang mga kids!

Ika nga ni PS, "Life is good kahit ano mangyari. 'Wag ka nagrereklamo na hindi masarap mabuhay!"

Ok fine.

Walang Kwenta. Pero Try Mo Rin Basahin.

Mga Kwentong Hayskul

Noong kabataan ko, noong ako’y nasa first year high school pa lang, my Christian Living teacher asked who among the whole class could consider her family an ideal family. Without thinking or at least coming up with convincing and heartwarming reasons, itinaas ko ang kamay ko. A friend smirked at me and blurted out, “Tingin mo ideal kayo?”

I looked at her, and I was kind of puzzled, she was a friend after all. Hindi ko binaba ang kamay ko, i just nodded when she asked me and secretly wished our teacher could see me so I could explain why.

But I never got my wish. I thought at that time, she realized she wasn’t interested with her question and decided to move on with the lesson.

Bigla ko lang naisip, kasi hanggang ngayon, klarong klaro pa rin sa isip ko ang mukha nung friend kong yun when she asked me that. Was she mocking me? Anyway, should there be a chance that someone would ask me if my family was a-ok, I’d still raise my hand and simply say, “My family’s the bomb!”

Labo noh? Basta.

Part Two

Due to excessive pagpapansin sa mga boys, I took the challenge of pushing my chair backwards, with me sitting on it. Whoever landed the farthest was to be “subconsciously crowned” as Ms. Popular. So I took the challenge together with the other “KSPs”.

It was so unfortunate for me that my chair was so stupid to trip and crash. I guess you can now tell what happened next to my extreme pagpapansin. Kasama akong natumba ng silya, my school skirt up to my face, showing off my chicken legs and worst, my baby boomers.

Napansin nga naman ako. Lovely.

Trivia Naman.

My sibs and I didn’t own story books when we were growing up. We were Batibot kids. We were also the “Saturday-Cartoons-Day” Kids. That’s how we grew up.

But there’s one very important teacher in my childhood life. LIWAYWAY, the komiks.

At bakit?

Dahil sa LIWAYWAY, dahil sa “Gorgo”, “Agua Bendita” at “Matias Matiisin”.

Thank you Liwayway for making my reading life easier.

Until now, I can still pray that Italian prayer, and until now, I still don’t know what it means. I love foreign language. Sana matuto ako minsan.

Trivia Lang naman.

On American Idol.

I am rooting for Paris and my Chris. They’re oh-some.

On Personal Life.

The best pa rin. Who could ask for anything more? 

On CAREER.

Screaming B-U-S-Y.

My Wishes For Tonight!

1. Get to play football with the Geng.
2. Buy all the DVD copies of recent movies I didn't get to see, namely... ALL OF THEM!
3. For the biz to fully recover, MALAPIT NA!
4. I hope it's FEB already so we can get JET already! Save money!
5. VICTORIA... here we come! May it be a success and as great as the others!
6. shop, have a girls' night out, and get a new phone (that's three in one!)
7. my hair to naturally curl so PS wont have to argue about it anymore :-D
8. a well-deserved vacation
9. sun, sun and more sun!
10. to magically gain a few pounds. I look like a tarantula with my skinny legs! :D

Good night!

Dangyu!

If most of the islanderos feel sorry for what have happened to us during the flood, there's an old fart who's rejoicing and even walked into our store and discreetly insulted our store and Apapa.

Why did God create men like him?

PS Talk Naman

PS and I recently celebrated our one year of FUN! Yey!

And we promise to have more fun in the coming years! Yey once more!

BTW, PS is gonna get me a GSD! She's actually Brad's daughter and I picked a name for her already -- JET, not juno, hers but JET! :D

Excited!

Tuesdays at 9pm

Worlds Apart... One of my best TV shows now.

I wish our local networks could produce something like W.A., instead of producing reality TV shows, with an awful lot of competition which eventually leads to mockery, criticism, and hatred and envy (picture a part where contestants/ contenders get the chance to air out their feelings towards the other team or the other person -- awful lot of backbitingi, terrible criticisms, full-swing arrogance...). I say TV producers shouldn't just provide entertainment to viewers but awareness and immersion as well. TV producers say they are now taking Pinoys to the next level, which level po?

Worlds Apart kind of reminds me of the immersions me and my friends had when we were still wearing our long green skirts in Loyola Heights. Three days and two nights of living with the fisherfolks of Laguna or with the farmers of San Jose Del Monte. Three days and two nights with no TV, no water, no electricity, no bathroom. But three days and two nights of humbling experiences, of fun, of realizations, of awareness, of action...

I say the experiences, the immersions, they may have taken away the usual comforts of our daily lives, but they have exposed us to the other cultures, to the other worlds, to the other lifestyles. They have made us value our lives more and improved on our crafts. And for them, we were their link to the world, their medium to be heard and seen...

Can't our producers make something like this? No competition, no prize, no mechanics, just pure immersion...

On the contrary, I love American Idol and Star in a Million. :-D

Garfield Is Dead?

It was like I was watching a local version of NGC's "Built for a Kill".

I could picture a pack of wolves tearing apart the poor rabbit's flesh... Anyway, Garfield died -- the big, fluffy, orange cat of Aling Cita, our neighbor. Garfield was so wrong trespassing our dog-infested backyard at 10:30pm! Poor Garfield, he must have thought how cruel animal life was.

I won't be descriptive anymore, but I just have to say that it was horrific (not descriptive eh?), and it was my first time to see a real catfight (?)! Nakakapanlambot. ANyway, our dogs already got a beating from me but they just couldn't leave Garfield alone and spare him!

Oohh, I hate our dogs now, they're stubborn and they're stupid. They killed the wrong cat or the wrong pet.

Aling Cita would totally be furious.

A Little Blog Trivia

As I don't have Internet access at home, and I can't as well run to the nearest cafe whenever I want to, I write down first all my future posts and wait for the right time to log on... Like now!

Bugger, I want a notebook fast!

I can now taste the ham

Things are getting better, much better, here in the island after three big floods enjoyed destroying our properties and interrupting our lives last December. Allelujah.

This time, according to Omama, she can now "taste the ham". And conversations are turning less serious during dinner. A big leap! Allelujah once more!

And even though I can still hear "echoes and whispers" from the people coming in at Apapa's shop, they don't get into me. Like what beautiful movies say when they end, "The most important thing is how you rise up, redeem yourself, and bring out the red carpet once again."

But Jajajanice would like to put it this way, "I am a S-U-P-R-E-M-E being, I can definitely get away with anything."
