Musikahan

I got a new thing now when driving every morning for work. Please tune in to 96.3 WRock between 7:20 to 7:30 in the morning. It’s their Three of A Kind (where the dj plays all three hits of a certain artist).

This segment has been around for sometime now, but I just thought of sharing and well, encouraging you to listen to them also. Because (I don’t know if this will have the same effect on you) it actually feels good slash light to listen to your favorite singer belts out her three most famous singles. It’s like eating all your favorite dishes in one meal. (What a comparison). This morning, they had Spandau Ballet. My goola, I was really beaming inside my car. Just check them out. They play nice music too, very ideal when you just want to relax (and if you dont want too many disk jocks talking...).

On the other side of news,

4 stars out of 5 stars to the local pop rock wonder, sessiOnroad.

Their Suntok sa Buwan album has been playing in my CD-ROM the whole day and I don’t get tired of listening to it. What I love about this Baguio City Coolness (as they all came from the summer capital of the country) is that Bohemian feel they have in almost all of their songs. Lead singer + songwriter Hannah captivates her listeners with her sensuous voice. It can become real curly and powerful (especially in the song Cool-Off).

When listening to their songs, it’s like stepping inside Gayuma (that resto in Katips) or inside that resto in Dapitan, Manila (I forget the name of the establishment, but it sounds like “Tribu” or something). It has that ethnic feel and if I’m not mistaken, the band’s got also that Cynthia Alexander touch. (And parang asa Baguio ka ulet, sitting on the grass, under the pine trees, looking at the fog coming out of yer mouth…)

The songs are mostly about the different faces of love. Unrequited. Letting go of it and finally finding it. My favorites are “Leaving You” and their hit single “Suntok sa Buwan”. Not that I can relate to them but Hannah sang them with all her might, with so much force. Feel na feel talaga niya. Galing. Galing.

And look at their album cover. I love the paperboat concept.

OPM's totally made a big improvement over the years. Great.
